You can become integral in shaping the future of high school students! The Academy of Business at Clairemont High School offers a wide variety of options for community and industry volunteers to contribute to our program and thus make a difference in students' lives. One-on-One Volunteer Opportunities
The Academy offers several volunteer methods that work directly with Academy students. Check on any options listed below that you may be interested in.
MENTORSHIPS
The Academy pairs 11th and 10th grade students with a business mentor who can guide their personal and career decisions for the future. Mentors meet one-on-one or in small groups with students monthly and are provided with structured agendas.  If you can make a one-year commitment and would like more info about being a Mentor, please check one or more boxes below.
INTERNSHIPS
All Academy 12th grade students are placed into 10-week field internships as part of our program.  If you or someone at your work site would like more info about hosting a 12th grade student intern, please check the box below.
Classroom / Project Volunteer Opportunities
The Academy offers several volunteer methods that work directly with Academy students in the classroom or on a project. Check on any options listed below that you may be interested in.
PROJECTS & SIMULATIONS
Academy students often do hands on projects that utilize community volunteers as teachers, consultants, and/or fictitious clients. If you would like more info about coming into the classroom to participate in such a project,  please check one or more boxes below.
MOCK INTERVIEWS
The Academy invites volunteers into the classroom each year to give all program students practice job interviews. 10th graders do short group interviews, 11th graders do 20-minute one-on-ones, and 12th graders prepare for internships with video-recorded interviews. If you would like to get more info about being a mock job interviewer, please check one or more of the boxes below.
GUEST SPEAKING
The Academy invites guest speakers into the classroom on a regular basis to speak on topics ranging from motivation & success, to business & leadership, to expectations & skills needed in the workplace. We also encourage speakers to suggest new topics. If you would like more info about speaking to Academy students, please check one or more of the boxes below.
PRESENTATION PANELS
The Academy invites community partners in to assess student project presentations and exhibitions on a regular basis (Also, all Clairemont High students are required to do a culminating Senior Exhibition in May to graduate.)  If you would like more info on being a panelist, please check this box.
FIELDTRIPS
The Academy loves to extend student learning by taking fieldtrips to industry-related destinations for tours or job shadows, or visiting other educational sites.  If you would like more info on how to schedule or sponsor a fieldtrip for Academy students, please check one or more boxes below.
AOBT Foundation
The Academy of Business is supported by the AOBT Foundation, a non-profit foundation that raises funds, recruits volunteers, and expands partnerships. The Foundation was formed by long-time Academy program volunteers. See below for ways to get involved with the Foundation.
FOUNDATION BOARD OF DIRECTORS
The Academy Foundation Board of Directors meets monthly. Voting officers must have prior volunteer experience with the Academy. To learn more about  the Board of Directors, how to become a chairperson, or how to sit in on a meeting, please check the box below.
FOUNDATION ADVISORY
The Academy Foundation also has an Advisory. Volunteers (who are not voting officers) attend board meetings to give input or lead special projects. If you are interested in attending regular meetings, taking on a special project, or heading a committee with the Academy Foundation, and would like more info, please check the box below.
FOUNDATION FUNDRAISERS
The Foundation appreciates those who offer to help plan and implement fundraisers which provide resources towards scholarships, student activities, and program growth. If you would like more info about how to plan a fundraiser or assist with an ongoing fundraiser,  please check one or more boxes below.
Resource Support
The Academy is always appreciative of donations and funds to support its students. If you would like to learn more about how to make a donation, please click on one or more of the options below.
SCHOLARSHIPS
The Academy emphasizes college to all its students, and many come from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. If you or your organization would like more info on sponsoring or offering a scholarship for Academy students, please check the box below.
DONATIONS
The Academy Foundation accepts all charitable donations in the form of funds, supplies (students are often in need of school supplies and professional clothing), sponsorships, and/or grant-writing. All donations are tax-deductible.  If you or your organization would like more info about donating to the Academy Foundation, please check one or more boxes below.
