The Honorable M. Joseph Manning Award for Community Service
The East Milton Neighborhood Association is seeking nominations for the 2024 M. Joseph Manning Award for Community Service -- the Association’s prestigious volunteer award for community service.

The Honorable M. Joseph Manning dedicated much of his life to public service and enhancing the lives of Milton residents. For 30 years, from 1966 to 1996, Mr. Manning served as a State Representative from for the 7th Norfolk District in Milton and Randolph. He was a member of the Massachusetts Legislators Association; Massachusetts Assessors Association; Milton Town Meeting Member; former member of the Milton Board of Assessors; Milton Park Commission; Milton Yacht Club; American Legion Post #114; Randolph Elks; Milton Kiwanis; DAV and Amvets in Randolph; and was a Marine Corp Veteran of World War II. 

About the M. Joseph Manning Community Service Award 
The annual M. Joseph Manning Community Service Award is the EMNA’s most prestigious community award. It recognizes Milton residents who share their talent and skills to enrich our community. Only one Milton resident per year (or couples/partners performing services together) can receive the Award. Past awardees include Katherine Haynes Dunphy, John Fleming, Heather Bergin, Reverend Shelly Davis, Ed Duffy (posthumously), Robert Sweeney, Kevin Olivieri, and Daniel and Ann Louise Sullivan.

How to Submit a Nomination
If you would like to nominate a friend, neighbor or colleague, please fill out and submit the form below by August 15th. If you would prefer a paper copy, please email 02186emna@gmail.com.  

Please note the following guidelines: 
  • Nominee must be a resident of Milton. 
  • Nominations for the Award may be submitted by any Milton resident, EMNA member, community partners and members of the public at large. EMNA Board Members and Selection Committee members may not nominate candidates for the Award.
  • The achievements, accomplishments, or service on which the nomination is based must have been performed on a volunteer basis, without pay. 
  • The achievements, accomplishments, or service on which the nomination is based must reflect the spirit of community service demonstrated by the Honorable M. Joseph Manning. 
  • Couples or partners who perform service together are also eligible; however, teams are not eligible. 
  • We ask that you notify your nominee of this nomination in advance.
