Rio Hondo College Summer Bridge Program 2015

The Summer Bridge Program at Rio Hondo College is designed to help incoming freshmen make a smooth transition from high school to college. Students will attend a half-day mandatory pre-session meeting that includes a campus tour and college assessments. Next, students will participate in a four-day Summer Bridge session, during which they will attend academic refresher courses in Math to prepare for college-level work, as well as learn about a variety of programs (including Honors program, Police Academy, Study Abroad, EOP&S, and CalWorks) and services such as financial aid, tutoring, Career Center, and Transfer Center. Students will also work with a Peer Mentor participating in team-building activities and gaining insight into college life. Each student will also work one-on-one with our Summer Bridge Counselor to complete an initial educational plan and prepare to register for courses in the Fall.

The program is free, but students applying for Summer Bridge Program must be willing to commit to one half-day Mandatory Pre-Session Meeting and a four-day Summer Bridge session, as well as intend to enroll full-time at Rio Hondo College for Fall 2015. Spots are limited, so please apply early. If you have any questions, please email Michael Koger, Summer Bridge Coordinator, at mkoger@riohondo.edu.
