TO THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE UNIVERSITY OF CHICAGO,

We, the undersigned faculty at the University of Chicago, urge the University to divest from the fossil fuel industry. We believe that profiting from these industries conflicts with the paramount social value of avoiding significant and permanent degradation of our planet that, if left unchecked, will adversely affect all of us, personally and as an institution. Because of the universal and existential nature of the threat climate change poses, we are not only compliant with but compelled by the Kalven Report to take action.
