Thank you for your interest in participating in glendaleOUT. Here are a few things to get you acquainted with us!
~Who We Are~
glendaleOUT is Glendale’s grass-roots LGBTQIA+ organization. Our goal is for this queer community to be part of the broader narrative that is Glendale. We do this through community building, social connection, and political action.
Glendale has a deeply conservative history, and while it has made many progressive steps, there is still very little queer representation and visibility. glendaleOUT is committed to creating an open, safe, and accepting environment for our queer community!
~History of glendaleOUT~
Coalescing Glendale’s queer community is a continued work in progress. Our organization has its roots in 2019 with a joint art exhibition between the queer art community in Glendale and the Gender-Sexuality Alliance advisors from several GUSD schools. We adopted the show’s title, “glendaleOUT,” to remain our organization’s name, which continues its alliances and allyships with these dedicated teachers and students.
In 2021, we celebrated the first annual Jewel City Pride. It was spectacular, with many events all over the city, both in-person and online, and partnerships with many major local businesses, institutions, and politicians. We plan on continuing June Pride celebrations, and are currently focusing on making the city open and accepting of its queer community 365 days a year!
~What We Do~
glendaleOUT is an organization of volunteers. We meet, build, plan, strategize, and move Glendale’s LGBTQIA+ mission forward. We participate, we event, we petition, we zine, we protest, we video, we support and volunteer.
