MATH
The department will place students into an appropriate math course based on their score on the placement test, standardized test scores, and previous study.
SCIENCE
All entering 9th Grade (Prep) students must take a science placement test. All incoming 9th grade students at Hotchkiss take “Prep Physics” -- a course built on the AMTA’s student-centered modeling method. The aim of the test, used alongside the math placement results, is to assist us in determining the classroom setting that will provide the most appropriate pace and level of support for incoming students, and best prepare them for growth and success in any and all subsequent science courses at Hotchkiss.
