District Read&Write Implementation Plan
The Iowa Department of Education is providing district-wide licenses for Read & Write to local education agencies (LEAs). It is our goal that all students have access to grade level content.

The Guidelines for Universal Design for Learning is a resource that you may choose to review as you develop your plan to implement the Read & Write text reader and accessible, digital materials. Accessible, digital materials, whether district adopted or created/curated by teaching staff, are those that can be used by all students to reach the intended educational outcomes. Within the scope of this work, materials would be considered accessible if they are able to be read by the text reader from beginning to end, used within a line of text, and allow for individual words to be read to the student.

As part of the implementation plan, Districts may include considerations for engaging staff in the work, the construct of academic standards and use of a text reader, and use of the text reader within instruction and assessment. Implementation plans will be reviewed and licenses distributed on a monthly basis. If you have any questions, please email MeLissa Lawson at melissa.lawson@iowa.gov.
