Thank you for your interest in helping out with the 2025 / 26 season. Merewether Nippers is run by a small group of dedicated parents and we'd love your help to ensure a successful 2025 /26 season.

We have lots of roles which we need help with and not all involve getting wet!

Age Manager / Assistant Age Manager

Age managers are critical to the success of our nippers. Where numbers allow, we try to pair new Age Managers with an experienced Age Manager.

Especially in the younger ages, you don't need any experience with surf life saving. We are looking for people who want to see the nippers having fun learning new skills and lead organised activities each week (we have an activity cheat sheet). The younger age groups spend their time on the sand or at the baths. Under 6/7s is a great place to start as an Age Manager!

To be an Age Manager you are required to do a short online course and be a member of Merewether SLSC.

For the Under 9s and above it is great if we can have as many parents with their Bronze Medallion or Surf Rescue Certificate so we can give kids the best experience each week (we require 1:5 ratio for all water activities for kids who have completed the required proficiencies).

If you are interested in being an Age Manager or an Assistant Age Manager, please nominate the age group you would like to assist. Age groups are based on the nippers age at 30 September 2025; eg if your child is 8 on this date they will join the Under 9s.

Operational help

Many hands make light work. Please let us know if you could help with any of the following.

BBQ Coordinator - our BBQ is our primary fundraiser. We are looking for 4 coordinators to run the BBQ once a month each. Time commitment would be 8.30 - 11am once every 3 or 4 weeks. You will be supported by parent helpers.

Event Coordinator - we would love to organise some family friendly events throughout the season.

Junior Committee Member - helping with adhoc tasks throughout the season such as registration information days, presentation day, Santa visit etc

Registrar Assistant - this role needs most time from early August to early November whilst we set up the season.

Junior Activities Coordinator Assistant helping Emma with the administration of running the nippers program. Do not need to get into the water for this role.

Uniform Coordinator - helping with the distribution of uniforms, mostly at the start of the season.
