If you are a member of the public or the media who has filed an open records request with a government entity in Kansas (local or state) and has had trouble accessing the records or were given an exorbitant bill, we want to hear from you. Please complete the form for each record request causing you concern. This survey is produced by a nonprofit organization, the Kansas Coalition for Open Government (KCOG) to gather data about the effectiveness of the Kansas Open Records Act. KCOG's mission is to promote awareness of open and transparent government in Kansas. Our members help keep the public informed of the abuses of open government and strive to hold elected officials accountable for actions that ignore the public’s legal right to truly public meetings and access to government records. KCOG works to strengthen application of existing open meetings and open records laws and to monitor legislative activities related to open government at all levels of government.
The last question of this survey gives you the option to share your email address with KCOG. KCOG will not give, sell, or otherwise transmit your email address or any other personally identifiable information you provide to any third party, and will only contact you in connection with your survey responses if you give permission to be contacted.
