YPG Book to Film Event: Life of Pi
Come ring in the summer with YPG’s first outdoor book-to-film event of 2017, sponsored by NYC Parks and the Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment!

Join us uptown on Wednesday, June 14 at Recreation Center 54 (348 East 54 Street between 1st and 2nd, near Sutton Place) for a free showing of the 2012 film adaptation of the imaginative classic LIFE OF PI by Yann Martel, an epic and magical adventure about a 16-year-old Indian castaway’s shipwreck and his unexpected friendship with a Bengal tiger. Winner of 4 Academy Awards including Best Director Ang Lee and Best Cinematographer Claudio Miranda, and nominated for seven more, the film stars Suraj Sharma, Irrfan Khan, Tabu, and Gerard Depardieu.

The movie begins at 8:30 pm, but please plan to arrive by 8:00pm to get a prime spot. Feel free to bring a blanket to get cozy, as there will be a limited supply of chairs available. We will have assorted snacks and refreshments, and 20 FREE COPIES of the book, available to the first 20 attendees to arrive!

For any questions, please contact Andrew Gibeley at or 860-508-0380, or contact Mabel Hsu at

See you all there! #BTF
