Writing Assistant Application

Two students will be appointed as Writing Assistants for the upcoming year. These positions do not have to be filled by financial aid recipients. Only rising juniors and seniors will be considered. The positions provide 5-10 hours of work per week at an hourly salary of $9.00.

Skills Required: The assistant must write very well, must be able to recognize good writing and work well with other students in developing writing skills.

Duties: The assistants work with students having difficulties in writing. They will help students define topics, get started on their papers, and revise or edit their papers. The Writing Assistants will keep regular hours when students can come for help and, in addition, will be available by appointment.

    Writing Sample

    After submitting the online application, submit a short writing sample (five pages or less) to the Financial Aid Office. This should be St. John's class work, on any topic. It should not be a creative piece. You can e-mail it to finaid@sjca.edu, bring it by our office, or send it through campus mail. Your application will not be complete until we have this sample, so please submit it by the deadline.
