INTERSCHOLASTIC PHILOSOPHY - "UJHS adheres to the guidelines for interscholastic competition of the IESA which distinguish between interscholastic activities and intramural activities. During intramural activities every child is assured equal "court time". In contrast, interscholastic activities carry no inherent right to receive playing time, or position based solely on the virtue of team membership. Selection and playing time are afforded to those who, in the sole opinion of the coach, demonstrate the ability to contribute to the team or group's chances for a winning effort." Playing time is determined 100% by the coaches. *

SPORTSMANSHIP - We expect all of our student athletes to demonstrate the highest level of sportsmanship. If not, the student athlete will be dealt with on a individual basis. We also expect our parents to help teach and demonstrate sportsmanship to all student athletes, not just your child. In the same fashion, we expect the same from our coaches. *

SAFETY ISSUES - Student athletes and siblings will be in the gym and not running around in hallways or outside while the games are in progress. (Exception for Baseball) United Junior High is a smoke free environment. There is no smoking allowed on school grounds, including baseball games. *

PICKING UP CHILDREN AFTER AN EVENT - For all student athletes not riding the practice shuttle, they need to be picked up right after practice, usually at 5:15 on a regularly schedule school day. (Exception for Baseball) After games, if your child is riding home on the bus, a ride needs to be at the school by the time the bus arrives at school. Coaches will let your child know when the bus will arrive back so they can call home with their cell phone or use the coaches' phone. We can not have our coaches continually waiting on parents to pick up their children. If there is continued problem with picking up children after a game, then your child may be subject to not be allowed to participate in away games. Please make arrangements ahead of time. *

QUESTIONS AND CONCERNS - If there are any questions or concerns you may have with the coach, 1st, your child needs to talk to the coach about the issue. If you are not satisfied, you may set up a meeting with the coach and Gary Eyler, UJHS Athletic Director. If you are still not satisfied, please set up a meeting with Mr Schwarz, UJHS Principal. After this time, please feel free to make an appointment with Mr. Whitsitt, United Superintendent. After a game or practice is not a good time to talk with the coach about issues. Please follow the correct chain of command. *

PAST ISSUES - Due to problems in the past, the following guidelines will be in implemented: 1. Parents will not be allowed in the Locker Room. 2. Extra practice will not be conducted after a game. 3. Our team will not take part in non school scheduled practices. 4. All practices are closed, meaning parents are not welcome to view practice unless otherwise determined by the coaches. 5. UJHS cannot control what you post on Social Media, but we ask that you refrain from posting negative comments against our opponents' players, coaches, fans and school. All this does is make United School look bad and also makes the one who posted it look bad. *
