In our master’s programme we have repeatedly investigated the conflict of interests between shareholders and managers, a conflict which could be characterised as inherent in the operation of corporations. We have also focused on the repercussions that the unethical behaviour of financial participants, especially as illustrated through financial scandals, have on the operation and stability of the financial system. In that sense, it can become quite blatant that a variety of distortions in the system are rooted in the unethical behaviour of its participants. Thus, it is of paramount importance to scrutinise the nature of ethical norms, their function, the motives that drive financial participants to operate in an ethical fashion and the context within which they choose to do so.
Don't miss the chance to participate in the last guest lecture of our MLF organized by the coordinators of the MLF in close cooperation with Prof. René Smits and ALFA.
