PASSAGE: Summer Electives (2013)
Our summer elective series begins June 2. You get a chance to select a study that's available. Do so quickly!
[Note: The Inductive Study of Mark has been cancelled.]
Please select 1st, 2nd and 3rd choices from the list of available electives. Students will attend only one (1) elective throughout the summer session. (Not all first choices might be available.)
"How to Study the Bible" (Kay Warren). This elective is an instructional-based class where students will learn the different genres and forms of literature that compose the Bible. Discover things like context, parables, the Wisdom Books, epistles and the Synoptic Gospels. Great for devotional givers and speakers, Bible-study leaders, and all who want to know how different styles compose the Scriptures and how we ought to read the Bible.
"The Life You Always Wanted" (John Ortberg). The elective is for those who want to be more organized in their spiritual development and understand the various areas commonly named "spiritual disciplines". Prayer, scripture reading, worship, fasting. What do those mean and how should they look in our lives? The book will be a guide for students to read, practice, share and mutually grow. (Books will be available for purchase at 50% off Passage's cost.)
What You Should Know—Basic Theology. This elective is an instructional-based class where students will receive a general overview of the basic doctrines Christians should know: scripture, the triune God, the Church, man, salvation, and so on. Our theology and doctrines form the way we exercise our faith. So, do you know your theology?
