Form description
Hello, Families!
At Lake Elementary, our students are often solving problems, designing research projects based on personal inquiry questions, and engaging in case study work. This project-based learning method gets our students investigating real issues and developing solutions to inspire change at local and global levels. In order to tackle these complex problems, students need to engage in experiences with local experts, community members, and authentic audiences. In short, YOU.
There are many opportunities for parents to be involved throughout the course of a project. We are working to develop a library of parent and community experts that can contribute to projects at our school! Your specific areas of expertise, workspaces, and companies can serve as meaningful engagement opportunities for every classroom. As educators, this form will help us collect and organize this valuable information that can be used when planning learning experiences for students. Here are a few ways you could volunteer during a project:
- give students expert feedback/critique on a piece of work
- be part of a project focus group (ex. local heroes in our community)
- answer questions that involve a subject you know well (from gardening to engineering to managing finances)
- hosting a group of students for an exhibition of work
Thank you for your continued support in your child's education, and we are excited to have your input and feedback!
