BoxCar Ultimate 2013 - Tryout Information
Wow, it's Club Season already, and boy are we excited. Bet you are too.
Here's the deal: BoxCar seeks to have the most fun of all teams in ultimate, ever, and, oh hey, by the way, play competitively in our region.
We value spirit of the game, playing for your team and teammates, and a willingness to participate in social games at moment's notice. We're going to laugh a lot, and we're going to work hard to improve. You'll get better this season, and you'll help us win a bunch of games.
Throughout April, we're hosting a competitive mixed club pickup game. It happens Thursday nights, 6:15 - dark at Herndon Park in SW Durham. We generally provide beer (yeah, it's on us) after at locations TBD.
Tryout Dates & Locations:
Thursday, May 2nd - Herndon Park, 6:15 PM - this tryout is an optional tryout which gives players who are unable to make weekend tryout dates a chance to compete for the open slots on BoxCar.
Saturday, May 4th - Piney Wood Park, 3 - 6 PM - BoxCar official tryout #1. Bring cleats, a white and dark, and a lot of water. We'll be putting in some hard work. Expect sprints, agility drills, throwing drills, and a bit of scrimmaging.
Saturday, May 4th - Cinco de Mayo House Party - SW Durham (secret location!) - 8 PM - until. Expect hilarious shenanigans, margaritas, limes, and games. Think of this as a party tryout. We want to know you off the field as well.
Sunday, May 5th - Piney Wood Park, 2 - 5 PM - BoxCar official tryout #1 DAY 2 - how well do you recover? Are you in mid-season shape? We'll find out. Expect more scrimmaging than drilling.

Sunday, May 12th - Piney Wood Park, 2-5 PM - Invite-only tryout - we'll be digging in deep to see who rises to the top. Bring your A-game and water. We promise you'll drink it.
Our season begins at Kudzu on May 25-26th.
Throughout the season, we'll be holding practice on Sunday afternoons, most likely 2-5 or 3-6, and a mid-week practice on Thursdays, most likely 6:15 - dark. We'll also be hosting POD workouts on Mondays and/or Tuesdays to focus on speed, agility, disc skills and endurance.
