Undoing Racism Workshop
April 8-10, 2015

Pope John XXIII Pastoral Center, 100 Hodges Road, Charleston, WV

Sponsored by: American Friends Service Committee

Led by: the People's Institute for Survival and Beyond

Workshop Description: The People’s Institute for Survival and Beyond focuses on understanding what racism is, where it comes from, how it functions, why it persists and how it can be undone. Our workshops utilize a systemic approach that emphasizes learning from history, developing leadership, maintaining accountability to communities, creating networks, undoing internalized racial oppression and understanding the role of organizational gate keeping as a mechanism for perpetuating racism.

Workshop Details: The workshop begins at 9:00 AM on Wednesday, April 8. Breakfast will be provided at 8:30 AM and lunch will be provided at 12:00 PM each day. Dinner is on your own. Participants are responsible for their own lodging, transportation and other related costs.

The workshop will conclude on Friday, April 10 at 3:00 PM.

Non-refundable conference registration fee: $50

If you are not able to commit to the entirety of the conference, PLEASE DO NOT APPLY. It is crucial that each of the 40 participants is present in mind and body for all three days.  Applications are due March 13th and we will notify you by March 27th.
