Instructions
Before filing a request, third-party developers are required to publish their apps in the Play store. If the app is still under development but you need to file the request, we still recommend to publish the app. If available, third-party developers must also post their app's privacy policies in the app's Play store page, so that processing the request goes smoother.
Note that the request ONLY takes effect on apps published in the Play store. However, it doesn't restrict or prevent development, integration, and test in a local environment during this period since third-party developers can still access the data types in their local builds.
Empowering Android users with full control over their health and fitness data is a key part of Health Connect’s mission. Health Connect users can determine and modify which third-party apps have access to their health and fitness data whenever they choose to.
To help us strengthen user privacy and security, third-party developers integrating with Health Connect must request read and/or write access for data types and include a valid use case(s) for them based on the app's purpose.
To request for data type accesses, complete the Developer Declaration Form. This will allow us to process and review your application. You need to specify the following items:
(1) The data types you’re requesting access to. You must only request access to the data types necessary to implement your product's features or services. If your product does not require access to specific permissions, then you must not request access to these permissions.
If you're applying for another request, make sure that you include both new data types and existing data types you previously requested, and exclude data types that are no longer needed in your app.
(2) The purpose of your app. If we cannot associate data type(s) in your request with a clear function of your app as written in this form, we will reject the relevant data type(s). However, you're welcome to reapply at any time.
For more details on requesting access, check out Request access to Health Connect data types. For more information about user privacy, visit Health Connect Policy Requirements FAQ and Health Connect by Android Permissions.
