Grant funds will be provided to schools that participate in two forms:
1. Teacher/Coach Stipend ($500) will be distributed directly to the individual agreeing to run the program for the school upon completion of application below. This is available for new and current schools. Only one teacher/coach stipend is available per school. If you would like to split the $500 among several individuals please contact Taylor Obersteadt at
obersteadtt@ksso.org.
2.(ONLY FOR NEW SCHOOLS) School Stipend ($500-$2000) dependent on need and number of UCS components implemented in 2022-2023 school year. First half of funding will be provided upfront and remainder will be distributed upon verified completion of components (Unified Sports, Inclusive Leadership and Whole School Engagement). School stipend is to be used towards supporting the Unified Champion School program at the school and can be used for uniforms, meals, supplies, facility rental, etc.

By completing this application and taking receipt of funds, you agree to implement one or more of the following:
1. Develop and implement a Unified Sports program involving students with and without intellectual disabilities.
2. Implement youth leadership/youth activation opportunities.
3. Participate in whole school engagement.
4. Designate a school based liaison to work with Special Olympics Kansas. This person will act as the main point of contact for the school concerning all Unified Champion Schools activities. This liaison will be required to provide a status update on activities taking place at your school(s) once per semester.
In turn, it is understood that Special Olympics Kansas will:
1. Provide consultation, education, support and technical assistance for sports programs and activities that promote inclusion, acceptance, respect and dignity for all students.
2. Provide resources to support school based Unified Champion Schools activities.
3. Provide training resources.
4. Provide Special Olympics Kansas and Unified Champion Schools processes, materials, schedules, athlete, volunteer, Unified Sports Partner paperwork, General Rules, etc.
5. Provide resources such as press releases, media information to introduce and promote programs.
6. Provide resources and support for Respect Week campaigns, fundraising, and youth leadership activities.
7. Provide branding materials and logos.
8. Promote your school(s) as a Unified Champion School.
