Come hear from Rosa Blumenfeld-Romero, an Indigenous woman from the Muisca people in Boyaca, Colombia, and the daughter of a Holocaust survivor. Rosa has a Bachelor's Degree in Near and Middle Eastern Civilizations and Peace and Conflict Studies from the University of Toronto, lived in Israel as a young girl, and volunteered at Neve Shalom/Wahat al-Salaam, the Oasis of Peace. She is the founder of Reclaiming Indigeneity LLC and has been doing Indigenous coming home work for the past 10 years.
The right wing has weaponized Indigeneity to justify the genocide of Palestinians in Gaza right now and the Occupation of the last 75 years by saying that the Jewish people are Indigenous to the Holy Land.
Some questions that Rosa will be addressing:
What are nation states for?
What is the difference between a historical connection and a current identity?
Where do anti-semitism and Indigeneity intersect?
What are our responsibilities to stand up to this myth as Queer Jews?
What about Mizrahi and Palestinian Jews?
