Gain hands-on experience in museums, cultural institutions, and creative organizations while building real-world skills, professional connections, and career readiness!
The Humanities at Work Program is a semester-long opportunity for undergraduate students in the UMass Amherst College of Humanities and Fine Arts to live and learn at the Charles River Campus in Newton while completing an internship in Boston and the Greater Boston Area. Students combine academic coursework with hands-on professional experience (6-9 academic credits, 18–27 hours per week), applying their humanities and fine arts skills in real-world settings while building career-ready competencies.
The Charles River Campus is a secondary UMass Amherst campus, so all courses, credits, tuition, financial aid, and student services apply just like they do in Amherst—and yes, it’s still UMass Dining! The program launches in Spring 2027, and is open to majors and minors across the College of Humanities and Fine Arts.
This is not an application to the program; it is a declaration of interest in learning more.
