Trip Request Form
The purpose of this form is to request a service trip for your school or organization with the Hawai‘i State Department of Land and Natural Resources, Division of Forestry and Wildlife - O‘ahu Branch.
Please complete the form below at least a month before your requested trip date. Trips are not reserved until confirmed via phone or email by Outreach and Education Staff. You will receive a response in 1-2 weeks. Contact the Oʻahu Outreach and Education Specialist should there be any questions regarding your trip:

Please provide multiple dates for your groups availability. Trips may be held Monday through Sunday. Trip requests must be made at least ONE month in advanced, and is dependent on staff and project availability.￼￼

Kaʻena Natural Area Reserve (5-6hr day) - Intermediate level + , could accommodate large groups
Pahole Natural Area Reserve (5-6hr day) - Intermediate level +, could accommodate medium groups
Kaʻala Natural Area Reserve (5-6hr day) - Intermediate level +, could accommodate small groups
Moanalua Forest Reserve (3-4hr day) - All Ages, could accommodate large groups
Kawainui Marsh Wildlife Sanctuary (3-4hr day) - All Ages, could accommodate large groups
Pouhala Marsh Wildlife Sanctuary (3-4hr day) - 3rd gr. +, could accommodate medium groups
Paiko Lagoon Wildlife Sanctuary (3-4hr day) - 3rd gr. +, could accommodate medium groups
Off-shore Islands Wildlife Sanctuary (5-6hr day) - Intermediate level +, could accommodate small groups
Various Trails Na Ala Hele Trails & Access (3-6hr day) - Age/grade level and group size varies

If via Caravan, how many vehicles will your group drive? *4-wheel drive vehicles are required for Kaʻala and Kaʻena NAR.
I understand that the type of service is dependent on project needs at each site. Work may include non-native plant control by hand, trowel or hand saw, the use of herbicide applicators and sprayers, or other. Performs out-plantings or transplantings of native species. May assist with trail, fence or water-catchment maintenance or construction. Terrain may be uneven, muddy, or in water. Weather may be humid, hot, or rainy. Trip will be cancelled on imminent weather. Some sites may not have running water or restroom facilities, and may be remote with little to no cellular service.
