The description below provides information about presentation options. Are you submitting for an oral presentation or a poster presentation? *
Oral Presentation: Each year, a limited number of 20-minute slots (15 minutes for presentation, 5 minutes for questions) are available for students to give an oral presentation on their research. We encourage both graduate and advanced undergraduate students who have research experience to apply. If you are not selected for an oral presentation, you will be invited to give a poster presentation. Oral presentations will be selected based on abstract content only by members of the NSYCC Executive Board who are not presenting at the conference. All self-identifying information (name, institution, etc.) are kept anonymous in the voting process. In previous conferences, fewer than 10 presentations have been oral presentations.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                        Poster Presentation: This is the most common presentation method at the conference; posters are divided into two sessions (morning and afternoon), and each session lasts one and a half hours. During that time, students stand by their posters and, if opted in, will be visited by at least one judge for awards.
The description below provides information about elevator speeches. If you are selected to present a poster, are you interested in giving an elevator speech? *
Elevator Speech: There are a limited number of slots for students who want to give a 2-minute speech to promote their research. Each presenter is allowed one brief PowerPoint slide. These will be held between oral presentations and are eligible for an award.
The description below provides information on the judging process during the NSCRC. Would you like your presentation to be included in the judging process for potential awards?
Information on Judging Competition: If you decide to opt in for the judging competition, you will be in the running for monetary awards. Judges will be attending both oral and poster presentations. Judges will be assigned to specific posters during the session and each poster will be visited by at least one judge. During lunch and the keynote address, the judges will convene and discuss their choices for the awards. The student members of the NSYCC Executive Board are never involved in the awards selection process.
