TWA celebrates Daan Utsav  - Oct 3rd and 4th
What is Daan Utsav?

Daan Utsav or joy of giving week, is held between 2  and 8 October, which celebrates Giving as a festival, across the nation. In its 7th edition this year , in Chennai, they join hands with many organisation like Ekam foundation, Oriental Cuisines, Euro Kids, Talent Quest, etc to spread the joy of Giving. As part of this TWA will be conducting farm volunteering on Oct 3rd and 4th of 2015, by which we give back to the Farmers.

What is TWA?

The Weekend Agriculturist [TWA] is a volunteer organization which helps small and marginal farmers by volunteering on their land by doing the farm work at no cost during weekends. We have been doing this for 2.5 years around Chennai like Thiruvallur, Thindivanam, Pondicherry etc..

As a gesture of reaching out to the less privileged, volunteers will be helping small and marginal farmers in and around Chennai on Oct 3rd and 4th. Its a wonderful opportunity to learn about agriculture and contribute meaningfully too.

Farm details
We have been helping farmers in villages named Alathoor, Kadalapkkam, Pakkam which is in Thiruvallur district. Depending upon the number of volunteers we will split up the volunteers to different farms in these villages. Details of exact farm and route etc will be provided by 30th Sep.

Transportation and Food
If your organization provides you a transport facility for this event please use it. If not you can join us and we usually use the public transport. You are most welcome to bring in your own vehicle.

The assembly point, time and address will be published by Sep 30th.

Food will be taken in small hotel in the village or en route.

Please bring below things because we are going to stay there for a night

1.Light and comfortable dressing to work in farm [You will not be able to work with shoes and jeans or pants etc…]
2.Plate
3.Reusable PET bottle
4.Light blanket [if you prefer to have one]
5.Air pillow [if you prefer to have one]
6.Flash light
7.Umbrella (Rainy season)
8. if you are staying for 2 days, bring change of clothes.
Costing
We only charge the actual expenses towards food and transport. If your organization is already providing you food and transport, we dont change anything.

The average cost of this event will be Rs.200/- Per person, per day including transport and food.

This amount will be collected from the members before the event and anything that remains will be given back. If the cost exceed the said amount, exceeding amount will again be collected from every member.
Full account details will be shared with all the members of the event.

Littering/polluting, smoking, consuming alcohol and anti- social behavior are strictly prohibited during the trip. *
Plastics, bottles, food packing, etc should not be thrown. Water in streams should not be polluted using shampoo or soaps.
