Address questions to email@example.com.
The program will be interactive -- sharing key messages and resources on CCSS and World Languages, while also exploring your questions, what you feel you need for support (in your school communities), and what you'd like from OSPI, in particular. I'll draw from presentations that I've done and attended over the past couple of years.
Linking World Languages to Common Core State Standards
The four strands of the Common Core State Standards for English Language Arts (ELA) and Literacy in History/Social Studies, Science, and Technical Subjects (Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening, and Language) have been aligned to the National Standards for Learning Languages by the American Council for the Teaching of Foreign Languages. There are also efforts to translate the Common Core State Standards into other languages, in particular, for use in Dual Immersion type programs. For example, see Common Core Translation Project.
World Languages Support Common Core State Standards
presented by Michele Anciaux Aoki and Janis Jensen at ACTFL Conference November, 2011.
