The NEO Honors Program is excited to announce that three study abroad stipends (or scholarships) in the amount of $2,000.00 each will be awarded to students who will begin their freshmen year at NEO in the fall of 2021. These stipends will be awarded for students to use toward the program, Intercultural Studies in Italy & Greece, which will take place in May 2022.
Students applying for this award must also apply to be a member of the NEO Honors Program and meet at least two of the four qualifications for full program membership.
Eligibility for the NEO Honors Program and for this award will be reviewed at the completion of each semester.
The continued eligibility requirements for the Honors Program are as follows:
- Be enrolled at NEO full-time (attempt 12 credit hours or more per semester)
- Maintain a cumulative 3.5 GPA
- Receive a grade of "B" or higher in all honors courses or courses with an honors contract
- Maintain a pace of completing a minimum 80% of all credit hours attempted per semester
*If a stipend recipient is unable to meet these requirements, their award will be retracted and given to another candidate. The Director of the NEO Honors Program will regularly check in with students to make sure they are making sufficient progress.
In addition to meeting these requirements, applicants must answer the prompts below. Please provide thoughtful responses, as these responses will be used to determine the recipients of the awards. Keep in mind, you cannot save your responses in this format, so it is in your best interest to type your responses separately, then copy them into answer boxes below.
A committee of NEO representatives will review all submitted applications and select three students to receive the stipends. Students will be notified of their award and receive instructions on program enrollment. The Freshman Stipend Application is due Friday, June 4, 2021.
Keeley Adams, Director of the NEO Honors Program, will work with award recipients to complete their enrollment. A $95.00 down payment is due upon enrollment. The cost of this down payment will be covered under the $2,000 stipend awarded to the student.
