Innovation does not just mean new technology. Educational innovation can be found in processes, services, programmes and partnerships. To be truly innovative, an intervention should:

Improve learning, equity and systems
Solve a real problem in a simple and clear way (be demand-driven)
Match the scale of the problem it is trying to solve.

Some innovations do capitalize on new technologies – for instance, putting math, science, english or even filipino lessons on durable tablets powered by apple apps or students in ES or JHS using Plickers, a powerfully simple tool that let teachers collect real-time formative assessment data without the need for student devices. INNOVATED 2017 is a collaborative initiative for USPF to LEARN NOvel and VAst TEchnological Developments and approaches in Education, UNLEARN ineffective one's and RELEARN the techniques that we've Learned before and aim for expertise.
