Thank you for your interest in supporting The Small Hill Foundation's Career Development Program.
The mission of this program is to support students not only throughout their studies but also to set them up for success in their future careers. We recognize that students may have questions related to further educational degrees, major selection, and career guidance. This program is specifically designed to meet those needs. As a volunteer for The Career Development Program, you can participate in any or all of the following three key components: College Counseling, Major Counseling, and Career Counseling.
- College Counseling will provide resources and advice for students who wish to continue their education beyond BYU Pathways at one of the BYU campuses.
Major Counseling will help students navigate the various degree programs and understand the opportunities each one offers.
Career Counseling will assist students further along in their degree programs by exploring potential career paths and connecting them with resources to succeed after graduation.
We are seeking individuals to serve as mentors, presenters, contacts, and Assistant Directors:
Mentors: Engage one-on-one with students to help them understand their options and select the majors or career paths that best suit them. The mentor-mentee relationship is flexible, with scheduling and engagement tailored to the needs of the individual student and mentor pair.
Presenters: Lead presentations on careers or academic disciplines, followed by Q&A sessions to address students' questions. Presentations are typically given once per academic year.
Contacts: Act as go-to resources for students by answering questions related to specific career or academic fields as they arise. This role is informal and anonymous—students' questions will be collected and forwarded to the appropriate contact by Small Hill, and your contact information will not be shared with students unless you choose to provide it for follow-up questions.
- Assistant Director of Career Development: Support the development and coordination of the Career Development Program. This role is ideal for someone passionate about mentorship and who has ideas on how to best help students prepare for their futures.
