Ride Marshals are an important part of ensuring that riders are safe in this year's Finish The Ride Santa Clarita. If you are interested in being a ride marshal for this year's event, the roles of the ride marshal for this year's FTR event can be find below:
MARSHAL ROLES:
- Guide riders through trouble spots - you may need to stop at the location
- Watch for riders who may be putting other riders or themselves at risk and stop them
- Provide updates about the location of each ride group - check-in with pit stop captain at each pit stop
- Support your fellow marshals on the ride. If a Ride Marshal is stopped, find out if they need help. if no help is needed, keep riding and fill in their area.
- Be the Ride’s Diplomats
- YOU can make or break the experience that the riders have
- Be patient with slower or less experienced riders and be as helpful as possible
- Ask if you can be of assistance. Look for sign of heat exhaustion or dehydration.
- Talk with the riders. It’s okay to be social, but also keep track of what’s happening.
- Recognize when it’s best to leave a rider alone
- Help with problems
- Provide assistance with flats and minor repairs as needed (bring your tools and a pump!)
- Assist with emergency situations, minor injuries, overheated riders, bonking riders, etc.
- Answer questions for ride participants.
