PAWS UP Helping Hand Request Form
Your personal information that you provide will only be seen by authorized Michigan Tech staff.
Your identity will not be disclosed to the individuals providing the support items.

Paws UP is for students who are in immediate need of financial support for unexpected expenses, or those whose financial aid might not cover all of their non-tuition, non-fee, non-housing related (rent, utilities, etc.) costs. If you have an emergency situation and are in need of significant help, the Husky Emergency Assistance Fund may be better suited for you.

Please keep the following requirements in mind as you make your requests:
  1. Everything provided is a donation from someone outside of the Michigan Tech faculty and staff. Accordingly, you will be asked to write a thank you note when you pick up your items that will be shared with the Paws UP community.
  2. If you are asking for groceries, toiletries, paper goods, or laundry supplies, please make that request through the HuskyFAN  Food Pantry. 
  3. If you need clothes or a winter coat, check with the Husky Closet Collective to see if they have what you need. 
  4. If you are asking for furniture or appliances, please check locally at St. Vincent de Paul, Goodwill Houghton, Angel Mission, or Keweenaw Consignment. 
  5. Requested items should not exceed $50 per item.
  6. Students may complete the request form once each semester.
  7. Extenuating circumstances will be considered. If applicable, make sure you explain them or schedule an appointment with Tiffany Jaeger, Manager of Outreach and Retention in the Dean of Students office. Dean of Students staff may otherwise request an appointment for clarification of requests.
*While a specific request for an item may be provided to one student, it is not guaranteed that we can fulfill similar requests for all students.

Items will be sent to the Dean of Students Office in Admin 130. A staff person will contact you when they are available to pickup. Please inform staff if alternate accommodations need to be made to pick up items. 

Students may request items from Paws UP such as:
  • bedding
  • school supplies
  • backpacks
  • other necessities, gas money home, limited household goods, etc. 
We also want to make sure your quality of life is good, so requesting “wants” like books or pizza money is fine, too.
