You are invited to participate in a study being conducted by ESMA NUR BUGDAY for the subject Extended Investigation that she is completing at the University High school.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the extent to which autonomy versus community-framed language influence independent self-construals.

The research will take approximately 10 minutes.

All results will remain completely confidential. You will be assigned a number so that your name will not be identified or appear on any records. The results will be presented as group results only and you will not be identified in any reports resulting from this research.

You are free to withdraw from this research at any time.

Consent for your child to participate in: Research Study being conducted as part of the Extended Investigation subject at University High School.

The purpose of this study is to investigate whether different styles of language influence how adolescents think about themselves. Specifically, the study examines whether language focused on personal independence (e.g., "I", "me") or community and group identity (e.g., "we", "us") affects levels of independent self-construal.

If your child agrees to participate, they will:

• Read a short written passage.
• Complete a short questionnaire about their thoughts and attitudes.
• Respond to questions using a 7-point rating scale.

Your child’s identity will be kept confidential and is protected by the provisions of the Australian Privacy Act.

If your child is aged 18 years old or younger, and you consent to their involvement in the research, please fill in your name and their name and sign below.
