Have you heard of the GATE? If not, allow us to introduce you. Originally initiated within the NERQ network (supported by the EC)
as an Open Science (OS) grassroots project in 2022, the GATE has been instrumental in providing crucial support to diverse research communities and OS trainers. Here, you can delve into the initial steps of the journey, as well as a comprehensive overview of the last months.
In the nascent phase, the GATE spun a service that assists in creating a dynamic feedback loop for what the research community deems significant about Open Science. Embarking on a fresh, long-term venture, the GATE team has recently designed a website, set to go live on March 17th, at a meeting with Michael Arentoft in Brussels 2025, and is on the brink of completing the final touches on the robust GATE service.
Now, we are set on expanding our horizons and partnering with research communities beyond our initial circle. And here's why you should consider joining forces with GATE:
- Actively interact with OS trainers, specifically from your community
- Participate in the community-centered discourse via the annual GATE report and notifications, gaining insight into current focal points and the latest developments in Open Science,
- Efficiently sustain, retain, provide, and process your community's learning materials, if available,
- Connect with diverse communities, including EOSC, RDM, Libraries, and more, on pertinent OS topics.
Does Open Science resonate with your research community? If so, join us at our hybrid gathering to learn more about integrating your research community and constructing the future of the GATE alongside us. The meeting is scheduled for March 18th, from 10 a.m. to noon, and there are both in-person and online options in Brussels.
We eagerly await your participation, either in person or virtually, from Brussels.
