STEM Fellowship High School Big Data Challenge 2018 Mentor Application
The STEM Fellowship Big Data Challenge ( is a 3-month long competition aimed at spreading data science education to high school students.hroughout the months of February to April, participants will choose and analyse datasets, record their findings in a brief paper, and if selected as a finalist, will pitch their analysis to a panel of judges at SAS Toronto headquarters.

As mentors you will be guiding our students as they go through their data science project.

Although teams vary, a commitment of 2 hours per week is recommended. That said, if an email describing detailed next steps would suffice, then that's perfect. If the team needs an hour-long collaborative coding session then we trust your judgement. At the end of the day your role is to serve as a guiding hand and to use your expertise to polish their analysis.

In addition to mentorship, STEM Fellowship will expose students to weekly data science workshops (five in total). This will equip the students with core data science skills and offload commitment on the mentors.

Please note that successful candidates will have a background check carried out, where their name, email and phone number will be shared with New York Academy of Sciences (NYAS), our partner for this competition.

Mentors are absolutely vital to the success of our competition so we want to thank you for your interest. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact us at:
