FloreSer Floral Designs is happy to announce it is joining the Maya Moon Collective.
Located in the heart of historic Normal Heights, Maya Moon Collective is San Diego’s first cacao cafe and community collective. Maya Moon Collective brings decadent, all-natural chocolate confections, drinking chocolate and a selection of organic and gluten free pastries, desserts and savory bites to one of San Diego’s most hip neighborhoods. In addition to the cafe menu, Maya Moon Collective offers quarterly art installations and an assortment of curated local goods and gifts including potted plants, meditation crystals, local honey, cards and of course, drinking chocolate blends and chocolate gift boxes.
Beginning Saturday, September 11th, from 10 am to 2 pm, you can find FloreSer Floral Designs at the Maya Moon Collective brick and mortar shop in Normal Heights, offering seasonal blooms grown by local small flower farms.
We invite you to enjoy this beautiful offering and be a part of the local Slow Flower Movement.
Since time immemorial, flowers have played an essential role in our lives, shaping traditions and cultures worldwide. Flowers were relegated as beings of supreme importance not only in spiritual ceremonies but in daily life. However, the commodification of flowers resulted in a floral industry with little regard to the environmental and human costs they cause. Today, we see a floral sector based mainly on high-volume, low-cost production, significantly devaluing flowers and the people who grow them.
The Slow Flower Movement is a proactive effort to transform the current floral industry model. FloreSer hopes to be a channel that helps rekindle our sacred connection with Nature's beauty and magic, flowers. Given FloreSer's background in regenerative farming, we have purposely chosen to collaborate with small farms whose practices show reverence and care for the people, flora, fauna, and land. Moreover, by keeping things local, we help re-connect flower lovers to the hands and hearts that tend and grow their blooms while also offering small local farmers new streams of income and more just business. Because growing flowers is hard work, and both the land and farmers deserve to be properly cared for.
Some of the local farms we will feature weekly include:
* Pixca Farm: A POC farmer-owned CO-OP located in the Tijuana River Valley (South County, San Diego, California)
* Seeds at City Urban Farm: A vegetable/fruit production farm and the outdoor laboratory for San Diego City College's sustainable agriculture program.
* Red House Flower House: A small family-owned flower farm located in East San Diego County, California.
* Cielo Hills Flower Farm: A small family-owned flower farm located in Escondido, San Diego County, California.
