Berkeley Heights Vegan Quest!
What is a Vegan Quest? A Vegan Quest is the transition to a diet that incorporates larger quantities of fruits, vegetables, nuts, and other plant-based foods in substitution of animal-based foods.
This transition is gradual and certainly won't occur overnight. As part of Berkeley Heights Vegan Fest 2019, we are asking you to go on a "Vegan Quest" starting the Monday after the weekend of activities, September 23, 2019 and ending on Sunday, September 29, 2019. For this one week period, Berkeley Heights residents and members of the public are invited to incorporate the knowledge they gained during the Vegan Fest Weekend (September 20 - 22, 2019) to be more mindful of their food intake and the impact that their diet has on the environment, as well as on their own health and well-being. We will post helpful links and other information in on our Facebook page to support those efforts!
The idea is for you to become more aware of the food you eat and use what you learn about the environmental and health benefits of eating vegan to think more carefully about your food choices. We are leaving it up to you to decide how you want to pursue this quest! Some ideas are:
1) Eat one entirely vegan meal for a lunch or dinner during one of the 7 days while reducing overall consumption of animal-based products (meat, dairy, etc.).
2) Eat one entirely vegan meal per day for each of the 7 days, in substitution of one of your regular meals for each day.
3) Go full vegan for the week! (Recommended for those who already follow a vegetarian or nearly vegan diet).
Please note your email address will not be shared, and is only requested so that we may follow up after the one-week Vegan Quest period is over to get your feedback on your experience with the Vegan Quest. We would then use this feedback to potentially put together tips for others.
