Can "Slavic" Speak for Minorities? — Who Gets to Belong in Eastern Europe
Talk 3: November 14, 3-5 PM (ET)

Ivan SimicSickle and Veil: Communist Gender Policies towards Muslim Minorities in Eastern Europe

Based on my forthcoming book, it explores policies that targeted Muslim clothing, religious practices, and identities, revealing how Muslim populations resisted, complied, and adapted to authoritarian ideas of modernity.
