Dr. Wong is an adjunct professor, which means that he was only hired for 3 years. He'd like to stay at UCLA but it doesn't look like he's going to be re-hired right now. We're collecting student quotes about the ways he's supported us and been an amazing professor and sending a letter to the department asking to let him stay. Specific personal experiences would be best! Even just a sentence or two would help a ton :)
Here are some good things that Dr. Wong has done you might want to expand on:
- 4-5 office hours per week
- super helpful typed notes
- making the class very accessible (live zoom + recordings, posting slides before lecture & annotated slides after lecture, being very responsive to email and campuswire)
- personally grading challenge problem reports and leaving detailed feedback
- organizing social office hours to allow us to learn more about math outside of the classroom
- being very empathetic toward students, making accommodations whenever necessary, reaching out personally to struggling students
- returning students coming back to LA the class in subsequent years, creating a continuous environment
- creates a welcoming environment where it is easy to get to know everyone and make friends
- extremely organized: all assignments and due dates uploaded to canvas before the quarter even begins
- very kind, never judgmental about student questions during lecture
- overall a challenging and fast-paced class that is great preparation for upper-division math
