A pen pal is a person you trade letters with to build friendships, stay connected, and practice your reading and writing skills. It’s a fun way to get to know your community!

Within our pen pal program you will have the option to write to a fellow La Grange Park Library patron or Library staff member, if you are not comfortable sharing your address.

You will receive writing supplies, envelopes, and a few stamps. This program will be self guided, but we recommend you send at least 3 letters to your pen pal by February. We just ask that you remain kind and respectful.

Option 1: You wish to write another La Grange Park child. You will need to share your address and will be independently mailing out your letters.

Option 2: You wish to write to a La Grange Park Library staff member. You can either mail your letter to us or drop it off in the Children’s Services Department.

Pen Pals will be assigned by age/grade, unless you write a library staff member. Identifying information such as sex, gender, or national origin will not be requested.
