Tell us your Experience of the Refinery Fire
Around 4AM on Friday June 21, 2019 a massive fire broke out at the PES refinery in South Philly, the second fire at the refinery in just over a week. Explosions were heard and felt throughout the city, and clouds of smoke spread from the refinery, traveling primarily east and north east. From 4AM to 7AM a shelter in place was called for east of the refinery. As of 8:30AM the fire is still not under control.

Philly Thrive has been organizing around the refinery for 3.5 years. We have been uniting residents at the fence line of the refinery and across Philadelphia for our #RightToBreathe -- which is threatened daily by the deadly pollution put out by the refinery. Because of our history with the refinery we are in a position to respond and to demand that PES be held accountable for putting our lives at risk.

Thank you for filling out this form to document your experiences with the fire Friday morning. Your story will help us understand the impacts of the fire and to demand that action be taken to address them.

We will keep you updated on next steps.
