Code for Africa (CfA) is offering six Media Sentinel Fellowships to frontline grassroots researchers with expertise in social media listening and analysis and with a good knowledge of social media cross-platform coordination and messaging on platforms such as Facebook, Telegram, WhatsApp, and X (formerly Twitter).
The five-month part-time fellowships are part of a joint initiative between CfA and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH to strengthen information integrity through disinformation alerts and awareness campaigns in Côte d’Ivoire and Senegal.
The successful candidates will work with CfA’s iLAB forensic investigation team to provide information on creating early warning alerts on conflict within their communities. The media sentinels will provide information on coordinated inauthentic behaviour (CIB) and other covert information, manipulation and interference (IMI) behaviour within their countries.
The fellows will be trained and mentored by a team of international experts from CfA’s forensic investigation team
iLAB to to analyse data from an ongoing threat actor mapping developed by partner organisation as part of the project.

Code for Africa (CfA) offre six bourses Media Sentinel (Sentinelle des Médias) destinées à des chercheurs de terrain spécialisés dans l’écoute et l’analyse des réseaux sociaux. Les candidats doivent avoir une bonne maîtrise de la coordination et de la communication sur plusieurs plateformes sociales telles que Facebook, Telegram, WhatsApp et X (anciennement Twitter).
Ce programme de bourses de cinq mois, à temps partiel, s’inscrit dans une initiative conjointe entre CfA et la Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, visant à renforcer l’intégrité de l’information à travers des alertes sur la désinformation et des campagnes de sensibilisation en Côte d'Ivoire et au Sénégal.
Les candidats retenus travailleront avec l'équipe d'investigation médico-légale de CfA, iLAB, pour fournir des informations permettant de créer des alertes précoces sur la manipulation de l’information. Ils auront pour mission de repérer et de signaler les comportements inauthentiques coordonnés (CIB) et autres comportements manipulatoires de l’information (IMI) dans leurs pays respectifs.
Une équipe d'experts internationaux de l'équipe iLAB formera et accompagnera les boursiers dans l’analyse des données issues d’une cartographie des menaces réalisée par les organisations partenaires dans le cadre du projet.
