We seek to understand white supremacy system and xenophobia, their history and current manifestations, and their impact on all of us. Further, we recognize that anti-Black racism has been a persistent condition in the United States and results in egregious discriminations and attitudes towards Blacks.

Self examination: We examine our own biases and our complicity (intentional or unintentional) in white supremacy, racism, xenophobia, and othering of any kind.

Action: We believe that the welfare of each of us is inextricably bound to the welfare of all. Our recognition of the oneness of our humanity inspires us to fight against intersecting forms of oppression, centering anti-Blackness and anti-Indigeneity, xenophobia and white supremacy.

We started Desi Antiracism Group as a space where we could explore history, our socio-economic-cultural context, and other topics that relate to our attitudes to white supremacy, anti-Blackness and other forms of othering.  Through these conversations, we hope to educate ourselves in the complex ways that white supremacy manipulates all of us, and equip ourselves with tools to help us in antiracism activism. Such a participatory education process can spur us to actively participate in our democracy via collective action towards making a society where everyone has an equal opportunity to thrive and express themselves fully.

We describe our tenets to include the following:

  • Education: We seek to understand white supremacy system and xenophobia, their history and current manifestations, and their impact on all of us. Further, we recognize that anti-Black racism has been a persistent condition in the United States and results in egregious discriminations and attitudes towards Blacks.

  • Self examination: We examine our own biases and our complicity (intentional or unintentional) in white supremacy, racism, xenophobia, and othering of any kind.

  • Action: We believe that the welfare of each of us is inextricably bound to the welfare of all. Our recognition of the oneness of our humanity inspires us to fight against intersecting forms of oppression, centering anti-Blackness and anti-Indigeneity, xenophobia and white supremacy..
