The Religious Life Council at McMurry University is a Christian, Student led organization which exists to provide a nurturing environment that supports and enhances the spiritual walk of the McMurry community, to weave connections between intellectual life and spiritual growth, to provide opportunities, for the McMurry community to learn about a variety of faith traditions and actively seek, participate in and inform the McMurry community of opportunities to help fulfill God's mission of Justice and Peace. As an inclusive body, Religious Life Council invites people of various religious traditions and cultures to gather together in this common ministry.
Members of the Religious Life Leadership Team shall:
-Maintain at least a 2.5 grade point average
-Attend all weekly Leadership Team meetings
-Attend all Leadership Team fellowship events
-Attend Chapel on a weekly basis
-Maintain one weekly office hour in the Religious Life Office
Explanation of Ministry Team Positions:
Chapel- Develop and lead a team of students that are responsible for planning all aspects of McMurry's weekly chapel
Special Events- Develop and lead a team of students to plan and organize special events that cultivate community on campus
Prayer- Develop and lead a team of students in planning and organizing opportunities for prayer for the whole campus community
Life Groups- Develop and lead a team of students to organize and lead life groups on campus
Social Action/Awareness- Develop and lead a team of students in coordinating events to raise awareness about social issues (local and worldwide)
Missions- Develop and lead a team of students in planning, organizing and leading all international and local mission opportunities for the McMurry community
Campus Outreach- Develop and lead a team of students to connect the Religious Life Community with the campus by planning events, reaching out to new students and inactive members
Sports Chaplain- Develop and lead a team of student athletes in serving as chaplains for sports teams on campus.
Social Club Chaplain- Develop and lead a team of students in serving as chaplains for social clubs on campus.
