California State Team - Coach Application
The California State Team is committed to building the most competitive and transparent development pathway for water polo athletes — and that starts with attracting the best coaches from across California. 

By applying through the statewide recruitment process, coaches not only help evaluate athletes during the 3P Testing days but also step into a competitive coaching environment where their leadership and strategy are tested just like the athletes'. 

Through the Top 50 Tournament, coaches draft their own teams using data and performance rankings, and the success of those teams determines who advances as head coaches for the Top 24 Showcase Game. Ultimately, the coaches who lead their Showcase teams to victory earn the role of California State Team head coach, while others serve as assistants and goalie specialists. 

This system ensures that CST coaches are chosen through performance, merit, and proven ability on deck, creating a culture of fairness and excellence that mirrors what athletes experience in the pool.

Membership & Eligibility Requirement

All coaches applying for California State Team (CST) positions must be current members of American Water Polo (AWP). This includes completing all AWP requirements such as background checks, SafeSport certification, and any additional compliance training prior to consideration. Only applicants who have fully completed their AWP membership and compliance process will be eligible to coach with CST.
