No ICE expansion in Cary
This statement is sponsored by Engaged Defenders for Democracy (ED4D), Democracy Out Loud, Wake Women Have Mercy, Wake County Indivisible, and Cary Indivisible.

A location in Cary immediately adjacent to Koka Booth (11000 Regency Parkway) is currently being considered for an administrative office for Immigration and Customs Enforcement, according to reliable reporting by Wired on Feb 10th.

We oppose the introduction of new Immigration and Customs Enforcement facilities in our city. Cary is a vibrant community with 44% of its community identifying as a demographic other than White. Introducing increased ICE presence around our homes, schools, and community damages trust in our local law enforcement, decreases the values of our properties, and increases our community members' risk of violent encounters.

We ask the Town of Cary to oppose this ICE expansion using whatever means at their disposal. We ask that the leasing company and owners of 11000 Regency Parkway not lease office space to the General Services Administration (GSA), the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), or Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

- The Cary Community
