Weft Studio Application
Weft Studio is an initiative for Black artists and artists of colour who want to make their own work on their own terms. We are opening applications for a studio group of 14 artists to participate in a developmental workshop period, led by facilitator Dylan Coburn Gray, with interventions from international mentors. This workshop period will take place from July – December 2021. The Weft Studio participants will be early career artists, who want to create bold, dynamic, cross-disciplinary performances and connect with an engaged network of peers. Sound like you? 6. Are there artists of other disciplines who you'd be particularly interested in working alongside? *

SECTION TWO: SCHEDULING INFORMATION
The schedule of Weft Studio is subject to mutual agreement, and you will be paid for your time. It will consist of 23 sessions of group work, alongside additional occasional masterclass and group commitments. For the sake of clarity, 23 sessions does not mean 23 days; group work will consist of a mixture of full sessions (4 hours with a lunch break) and half sessions (2 hours), for a total of 23 full sessions. These 23 sessions are the overall mandatory group time commitment between mid-July 2021 and mid-December 2021.

To help us arrive at a schedule that is sensitive to the needs of the group, please give your preference in each of the following cases.

Please note: This work will be undertaken with rigorous adherence to government guidelines for the ongoing management of the COVID-19 pandemic. An online version of this workshop curriculum is possible to deliver should public health advice in May – December 2021 dictate. We will take individual safety requirements into account if personal circumstances mandate you working remotely.
1. Given a choice between half sessions (2 hours) on weekends or evenings, which is your preference? *
2. Given a choice between full sessions (4 hours with break) on weekends or weekdays, which is your preference? *
3. Given a choice between widely-spaced week-long engagements and regular, ongoing sessions, which is your preference? *
4. When are you not available? *
Please speak to both day-to-day commitments and any periods of time you're unavailable in the Weft Studio period.
5. What do you need for this programme to be accessible/ useful to you? e.g. reading material given in advance/non-serif fonts where possible, captioning or interpretation of live performances, scheduled breaks, the freedom to abstain from or step out of physically strenuous exercises. *
