In Small Measure Submission Form
In Small Measure is our inaugural fundraising exhibition where we ask participants to create a postcard sized work of art, donate it to us, and in exchange, it will be included in an exhibition on February 13-14, 2026 at The Contemporary Dayton, Dayton, Ohio’s contemporary art center.

Your donated artwork means more this year during a challenging time for arts organizations and small nonprofits. With your support, we aim to raise $10,000 to help sustain The Contemporary Dayton’s mission. All postcards will be sold anonymously for $100 and all funds raised go to support The Contemporary Dayton.

Submission Guidelines

Please read the information below before submitting.

1. Create Your Artwork
 Submit an original postcard-sized artwork measuring 4 x 6 inches (any orientation, unframed, and unmatted). All media are welcome, including drawing, photography, painting, printmaking, collage, sculpture, textile, and mixed media.

-Original artworks only: Each piece should reflect the direct hand of the artist—no mass-printed editions or commercially produced works.
-Photographers: Please print on high-quality archival paper. -Artists may submit up to three artworks, but a separate submission form must be completed for each piece.

2. Keep It Anonymous
 To maintain the fun and surprise of the sale, sign only the back of your artwork. Do not sign the front or share images of your work publicly until after the sale begins. Artist names will be revealed only after an artwork has been purchased.
 Please note: Works signed on the front cannot be included in the exhibition.

3. Complete the Online Submission Form
 Fill out our online submission form. By signing the form, you agree to donate your artwork to The Contemporary Dayton and you grant The Contemporary Dayton permission to use an image of your artwork for marketing purposes.

4. Sign and Label the Back of Your Artwork
Clearly print and sign your full name on the back of each artwork.

5. Information for Collectors
You may include an artist statement and contact information in the submission form. If your artwork sells, this information will be shared with the buyer.

6. Package Carefully
To protect your artwork during shipping, we recommend the following:

-Wrap it in wax paper and place it between sturdy cardboard sheets. 
-Fix all charcoal or pastel pieces.
-Do not send wet, sticky, or unpackaged artwork.
-Do not send your artwork without a package or envelope as it will get postmarked and damaged.

7. Mail or Drop Off Your Artwork -Mailing Deadline (postmark): February 1, 2026

-In-Person Drop-Off Deadline: February 4, 2026 Drop off packaged artwork during gallery hours: Wednesday–Saturday, 11 a.m.–6 p.m.

Please ensure your artwork is enclosed in an envelope or package before mailing or dropping off.

8. Confirmation & Sale Notification
Once your artwork is processed, you’ll receive an email confirmation acknowledging your participation. Please ensure your email address is entered correctly. After the sale concludes, you’ll be notified via email if your artwork has sold.

9. Unsold Artwork
Any unsold artwork will be added to The Contemporary Dayton’s retail shop as a full donation. While we cannot share buyer contact information without their consent, we can forward your request to them. If they agree, we’ll provide you with their details. Please note: State of Ohio tax regulations do not permit deductions for donated artwork.

10. Event and Artist Benefits

Tickets: $35 per person

Preview Party, 5:30-7 pm
Tickets: $135 per duo
Preview party ticket holders get first dibs to purchase artworks. 

Tickets will be available beginning December 1, 2025 at codayton.org

All participating artists will receive two complimentary tickets to the In Small Measure Live Sale Event. If artists wish to attend the Preview Party, they may purchase tickets at a discounted rate of $50 per person.
