2019 Wellspring Farm Intern Application
This internship takes place on a certified organic CSA and market farm that offers 130 shares for the regular 2019 season and 70+ fall/winter shares. Interns will experience and participate in every aspect of managing a diversified vegetable farm, including greenhouse seeding, direct seeding, transplanting, weeding, irrigating and harvesting. In addition to the CSA, we participate in a weekly Farmers Market and sell to a handful of restaurants. Interns will take part in all aspects of food distribution, including staffing the market booth. After spending time on our farm, interns will learn much of what is necessary to run a small-scale, certified organic veggie farm.

There are four internship positions available.
1)The long season internship runs from the beginning of March through the end of November.
2)The mid season internship runs from the beginning of April through the end of October.
3)The short season internship is from the beginning of May through the end of September.
4)The mini season internship is from the beginning of June through the end of August.

In general, hours are determined by the season. We do our best to maintain a sustainable schedule, aiming for an average of 50 hours per week. This includes an hour for lunch each day. Please note that hours may fluctuate depending on time of season and the weather. Depending on the needs of the farm, interns may be expected to be present longer days during busier months.

Educational Opportunities: An intern curriculum will be provided and followed to ensure interns are achieving core competencies and meeting their personal goals throughout the season. Wellspring is also a member of CRAFT (Collaborative Regional Alliance for Farmer Training), FairShare and other educational organizations. Interns gain access to the benefits of these regional networks of over 75 farms, representing a wide diversity of farming practices and scales of operation. Other learning opportunities include participation in Wellspring's education classes which may include Home Gardening and Cooking classes; an Intern Project where independent study and experiment are encouraged. (All as the regular farm schedule permits.)

Stipend: $500/month, veggies from the farm and many other staples are provided.
Bonus: End of season commitment bonus depending on the length of the internship.

Meals: Lunch is eaten together with the farm team two days a week with. Farm staff will take turns preparing this meal. Basic staples and kitchen space are provided for other meals. Eggs provided by small flock of hens.

Housing: Each farm member has a private bedroom. Kitchen, bathrooms and living space are shared with the rest of the farm team.
