Please find an open letter, drafted by UK-based NGO ALQST and supported by Leeds University UCU, regarding the case of Leeds University PhD candidate and Saudi women’s rights activist Salma al-Shehab who was recently sentenced by the authorities in Saudi Arabia to 34 years in jail for her peaceful Twitter activity.

It now seeks signatories from UK academics, students and university/college employees, calling on the new Prime Minister and Foreign Secretary to take urgent action on her case. We ask that you add your name by COB Friday 23 September.

After the deadline, the letter will be published on our website, and shared with media for publicity. Please note that your names will be added to the letter after signing the form.

Many thanks for your support, and feel free to get in touch with any questions at all.
