The George Washington University Chapter of the American Lung Cancer Screening Initiative 2023 - 2024 Executive Board Application
The American Lung Cancer Screening Initiative (ALCSI) is a non-profit organization comprising of a team over 200 doctors and students working to increase awareness of lung cancer and lung cancer screening in communities across the country. Our mission is to improve the rate of lung cancer screenings for high-risk patients and reduce the rate of lung cancer through outreach efforts. One such effort is working with congress to pass legislation for promoting lung cancer awareness. We have successfully worked with elected officials and representatives to receive proclamations from almost all of the 50 states. We have multiple university chapters across the nation, such as in Harvard University, UC Berkley, UCLA, and Tufts University. Now, we plan to bring ALCSI right to D.C. at the George Washington University. For more information about us, please visit: https://www.alcsi.org/

At the GWU Chapter of ALCSI, we hope to continue to fight to increase awareness of lung cancer in our GWU community and around D.C. by working with elected officials to pass legislation regarding lung cancer screening and promote anti-vaping in our middle and high schools. Lung cancer killed more people in D.C. than breast and colon cancer combined between the years of 2014 and 2018. We hope to eliminate this alarming statistic through partnering with local lung cancer organizations, health agencies, and hospitals, hosting workshops and large events, volunteering our time at schools and retirement homes to increase awareness, putting up posters and giving presentations around D.C., working with elected officials to craft legislation supporting our cause, and more!

We are looking for passionate and dedicated members of the GWU community to help us fight lung cancer in the D.C. area! As an e-board member, you will have the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of thousands in the D.C. area.

The deadline to apply for an e-board position is Wednesday, April 26th 11:59 PM. Your answers on the form may be shared with the rest of the current ALCSI Executive Board.

If you have any questions, please send an email to: shreyapapneja@gwu.edu (shreyapapneja@gwmail.gwu.edu)! Can't wait to work with all of you!
