Cedar Park Middle School 8th Grade Course Form for 2024-2025
Hello "Future 8th" Grade Leopards!

Please take time to fill out the 8th Grade course form as best you can. If you have questions or concerns, please contact Dana Habiger, 8th Grade Counselor at dana.habiger@leanderisd.org

Please know that due to enrollment and staffing, there may be changes to these class options (ESPECIALLY ELECTIVES) up to the first day of school. If anything changes, we will notify you.
There are some ELECTIVES that require interest forms and deadlines. Please visit the CPMS Counseling website where you will find all 7th to 8th Grade information. CPMS only offers the Electives listed on this form. Below is the link to the middle school course catalog where you can read about course descriptions.

4. Required Core Academic Courses (students will be enrolled in ELA, Math, Science, Social Studies)  Advanced ELA is "open" enrollment for all students.  Select ONE option. *

7. Required Core Academic Courses. Select your next grade level Math class.  Geometry is only offered before school 8:10-8:50.  Therefore students will have an extra elective if enrolled in Geometry.

8. Required PE/Off Campus PE- OCPE applications are available online on the LISD website. OCPE requires district approval and the application deadline is May 31st. Two years of PE equivalent is required for Middle School. There are mandatory requirements for Cadets and Cheer. Must play football if enrolled in Boys Athletics. All classes are full year and combined with 7th & 8th graders. As an 8th grader, if you took a PE equivalent class in 6th and 7th grade, you are NO LONGER REQUIRED to take a PE elective and thus this will count as one of your electives. *
9. ELECTIVES- All 8th grade students will be enrolled in THREE Electives. Please rank them in order of preference. Must  qualify for QUEST. AVID requires student to take an advanced course such as ADV ELA, ADV SS or PACE Math. BAND can only be joined in 6th grade.

All Electives are full year and combined with 7th & 8th.
A PE elective is required in 6th and 7th grade and becomes an "option" in 8th grade and counts as ONE of THREE elective choices.
